The Tasiast mine is an open-pit operation located in northwestern Mauritania, about 186 miles north of Nouakchott. Kinross acquired the Tasiast gold mine in 2010 and has since expanded its capacity, increasing throughput from an initial 8,000 tonnes per day (“t/d”), progressing to 12,000 t/d, and reaching an average of 24,000 t/d in 2023.  

The Tasiast 24k capital efficiency project has enhanced production, reduced costs, and generated strong cash flow while extending mine life to 2033. 

Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, Kinross completed a 34 MW photovoltaic solar power plant in 2023, which now provides about 20% of site power, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions while advancing responsible mining.
