Born on April 15, 1966, in Lomé, Robert Koffi Messan Eklo, son of former Minister of the Interior Michel Yao Kunale Eklo, is a rising figure in Togolese politics. A graduate of prestigious foreign institutions, he first studied in France before completing his training in the United States in the fields of finance, banking, and digital technology. These solid academic skills propelled him into a distinguished professional career abroad.


Back in Togo, Robert Eklo began his career at the oil giant Mobil, where he held the position of sales representative and lubricants engineer. He then moved into consulting, managing an influential business practice in Togo and acting as a consultant for several national and international banks. Recognized for his expertise, he has also been a key player in the field of digital technology and project management, earning the qualifications of a senior computer engineer and a high-level manager.


Prior to his appointment to the government, Robert Eklo served as an advisor to the President of the Republic, a strategic role that prepared him for his new ministerial duties. His political engagement intensified during the recent legislative and regional elections, where he distinguished himself as a campaign leader for the UNIR party, particularly in his native Wawa prefecture. On the ground, he successfully outlined President Faure Gnassingbé's development policy, consolidating his position within the party.


Today, as head of the Ministry of Mines and Energy Resources, Robert Eklo embodies a new generation of Togolese leaders, combining technical expertise and political commitment. His appointment marks the beginning of a new era for this strategic sector, essential to Togo's economic development.
