Dr. Rokhaya Samba DIENE is Doctor-engineer in applied geology from University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD) after attending the Institute of Earth Sciences where she went out in 1993 as Engineer geologist.
Dr. Diene is also specialized in Public Administration of Mines (CESAM) from the National Superior School of Mines in Paris and Executive MBA in advances finance and Management of West African Polytechnic University (UPOA) in Dakar. She has successfully completed the course on Regulation and Management of mineral resources at Curtin University, Western Australia, as part of the Australian Awards for Africa in 2011, and the course on "mining policy and commercial contract negotiations" at the African Institute of Economic Development and Planning (IDEP) in 2012.
Director of the Prospection and Mining Promotion since April 2015, Dr. DIENE has successively served at different positions as head of the Documentation and Mining Cadaster Center of the Department of Mines and Geology, Chief of the Division of Mines and Careers, Head of the Regional Mines and Geology Service of Dakar.
Dr Diène coordinated World Bank Program on Institutional Diagnostic of the Ministry of Mines and Diagnostic of the Legal and Fiscal Framework of the Mining Sector and the organization of five editions of the Senegalese International Mining Exhibitions and Conferences (SIM SENEGAL).
Dr. Diene has been the focal point of the Ministry in charge of Mines within the Directorate of Mines and industry of ECOWAS and WAEMU, the African - European Georesources Observation System (AEGOS) project and the Intergovernmental Forum on mining, metals and Sustainable development (IGF).
Chair of the Organisation of African Geological Surveys, President of the Executive Committee of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and Board Member of WIM- Senegal, she has also joined several non-profit and apolitical associations: Institute of Earth Sciences Geologist Association, Senegalese Women Geoscientist Association, Geological Society of Senegal, Senegalese Women Leader Association in Agriculture and Environment (ASELFAE), Australia Awards Alumni Network, International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), Senegalese Association of Alumni (ASA), Senegal-Australia Alumni Awards Association (SEN3A), Women In Mining-Senegal (WIM-SENEGAL).
