M. Chemsdine Sow Deina holds two (2 ) Masters of Sciences: one in Exploration & Mining Geology from “Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine” of Nancy (France) and another in Petroleum Geosciences from Curtin University of Technology in Perth (Australia).

He worked as Mining Geologist at SNIM (iron ore deposits company) and in consulting before joining in 2004 the Chinguetti Project Group which became in 2005 the National Oil Company SMH. From 2005 to 2024 he held various positions within SMH including Director of Mining Assets, Upstream Director and Exploration Director.

Since 2024 M. Chemsdine Sow Deina is the Director General of Petroleum and low carbon Hydrogen (DGPH) within the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Mauritania.
