EL AOUJ Mining Company S.A is a Mauritanian company, owned equally by SNIM and GLENCORE. It intends to operate an open pit iron mine in the Tiris-Zemmour region and to build an iron ore processing plant there, capable of producing 11.5 million tons per year of concentrates at 66.5% Fe, over a lifespan of 41 years. The finished product will be transported by rail to Nouadhibou to be exported there, via the port of SNIM, to international markets.
